Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
