Defiant Wilfried Nancy insists he is not worried about dismissal but supporters show fury after derby defeat.

The Celtic boss insisted he was not afraid of losing his job, maintaining, “We are very near to a turnaround,” in the wake of edging perilously close to being fired with a heavy defeat by their arch-rivals.

Another Collapse Leads to Old Firm Loss

Celtic had led Rangers at the break but a collapse after the break allowed Rangers to move level on points with the current league title holders. The French coach, who was appointed in December, has now presided over six defeats in his first eight fixtures.

“There is unity with the board,” insisted the manager.

Focus on the Details

He remains focused on the fact his team show good levels for 45 minutes at a time. For instance, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been better than 1-0 up. “I saw enough except the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I must remain balanced.

“The standard we had at times was really, really, really high. That is a fact. I could not speak so positively if it was different. That is the reason, in terms of results, I said this is the same story. For that reason I feel we are really close to things turning around. Right now: the fine margins.”

“I saw many, many good things that we did, once more. However comes down to sustaining it. My outlook would be different if I didn't believe it. This is why I firmly believe we will manage to get back on track.”

Röhl’s Cautious Outlook

The victorious boss was cautious about a serious challenge despite what seemed like a statement victory. “One match at a time, then we can develop momentum,” he said. “The belief in the squad is immense.”
