Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that returning someday is an option. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
They secured the Premier League under Arne Slot, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I declared I will never coach any other side on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...absolutely. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, so I could make the decision in a few years, I don’t know. Is a decision required immediately? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
When asked about which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip media briefings four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the team enjoying conversation, that’s nice. With many victories meaning regularly great spirits around the place. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh vividly recalled as an instance.”
He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last campaign. They've been defeated four consecutive matches in every contest after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”
Klopp also spoke emotionally about the death of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother recently.
“How do you replace a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys as well. No one within the club will ever use it to justify results though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Handling this individually is not easy. Impossible.”
