The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between faith and wealth, the victory is clear for materialism in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky biopic about the fallen televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. The actor acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims early on, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye commence capitalizing on the people's religious faith. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, though Chastain succeeds to show the character in a likable light. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, on Film4
